The sugar industry is a strategic agricultural sector in Serbia, and sugar is the product with the highest export potential.
With its four sugar factories in Vrbas, Pećinci, Kovačica and Bač, Sunoko is the largest domestic sugar producer and exporter. Sunoko supplies large part of the domestic and foreign food and confectionery industry, a large number of wholesalers and households with sugar. In addition to sugar sales, Sunoko also sells sugar beet by-products, such beet molasses and beet pulp.
The sugar factories within Sunoko process around 2 million tons of sugar beet per campaign, cultivated at nearly 35,000ha of arable land, and produce nearly 250,000t of sugar annually.
Sunoko was established in 2006, as a joint venture of two large companies, domestic MK Commerce and Germany’s Nordzucker, with a common objective to strengthen their position at the European sugar market. At the time of the establishment, Nordzucker had a 51% ownership stake in Sunoko, while in early 2010 MK Group became a majority owner.
As the most significant player at the local sugar production market, Sunoko aims to provide stable and sustainable supplies for related industries and consumers with one of the strategically most important products - sugar.Kontakt
