SF "Bačka" Vrbas
Sugar Factory “Bačka” is the oldest sugar factory in Serbia. It is located in the heart of the arable plain of Bačka, northwest from Vrbas, 3km away from the city. It is situated between the Vrbas-Sombor road and railway on one side and the DTD Canal on the other. The factory covers around 40ha of land and together with surrounding areas which also belong to the factory its total area reaches ca 90ha.
It was constructed back in 1913. It initial processing capacity was 1,200t of sugar beet a day, while after years of continuous investments, particularly after the privatisation, it has reached 6,000t. In all these years, the factory has achieved outstanding production results, with more than 700,000t of sugar beet processed and nearly 100,000t of sugar produced annually.
