Žito-Bačka ltd is specialised in the production and trade in mill products. Its core competence is purchase, processing and trade in all types of cereals, particularly wheat. With a storing capacity of 50,000t, Žito-Bačka is one of the largest storing facilities for cereals and cereal products in Serbia. The company is also active in organising and financing the production and purchase of agricultural products from a large number of agricultural cooperatives and individual producers.
Žito-Bačka ltd mill was founded back in 1916, and in 1975 it was launched as one of the largest and sophisticated milling facilities in Yugoslavia. It was a popular brand in flour production for many years, a supplier of the largest bakery and confectionery companies. After the privatisation in 2004, its core competence has been continued and expanded, and the company has confirmed one of the leading positions at the market of Serbia and the region. Žito-Bačka ltd has been a member of MK Group since February 12, 2008.
Products and services
Žito-Bačka Kula ltd mill has production and storing capacities in the area covering 174 ares. Storing services are an important activity of the company. To increase storing capacities for raw materials, a silo with 30,000t capacity was purchased, and the company also has capacities for storing finished goods. In addition, the mill has 3,000t capacity for storing bulk flour. Investing into core assets has increased production by 40%. Furthermore, Žito-Bačka is a long-standing, reliable storing partner of Directorate of Republic Reserves of Goods.
The company also includes a bakery for producing bread, pastry and other bakery products.
Žito-Bačka’s products include all type of wheat flour (t-400, t-500, t-850), and special-purpose flours upon clients’ request. Competitive advantages of the mill are reflected in the production of special-purpose flours for the confectionery industry. Since March 20, 2007, the production has been performed upon the HACCP system, Codex Alimentarius CAC/RCP 1-1969, Rev.4 (2003) and the ISO 9001:2000 quality management system.
